Respite Program

Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center’s Alzheimer’s Respite Program provides temporary relief to families who are experiencing the intense pressure of constant caregiving responsibilities. Also known as Greenwood Inn, this six-bed program offers round the clock care by Certified Nurse Aides who are supervised and supported by professional staff of the Center. Families who utilize this service consistently report that Greenwood Inn enables them to postpone or altogether avoid nursing home placement of their loved one with Alzheimer’s Disease. The program serves individuals from across North Carolina.

Black Mountain Center Foundation, Inc.

The Black Mountain Center Alzheimer’s Respite Program is supported by the Black Mountain Center Foundation, Inc. A 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation, the Foundation was established to generate financial resources to improve the quality of life for Center residents and to enhance the skills and performance of staff on behalf of residents, including those who have been discharged and currently reside in community settings. There are no paid staff and the resources of the Foundation are applied directly to its mission to benefit the residents and the statewide community served by Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center. The Foundation accepts in-kind donations, memorials or gifts to support its work. For further information, call (828) 669-3320.
