- The Felicite Fund was created by the Black Mountain Center Foundation to support educational
opportunities and grant awards for students whose study relates to health care, human services, or public policy.
- The Felicite Fund honors a western North Carolina citizen who demonstrated deep commitment to creating educational opportunities for minority
and low income individuals and was especially concerned with women’s issues. Among her many accomplishments were the support of racially integrated Girl Scout troops in the late 1960’s, a federally funded summer
preschool program for low income children with special needs and the development of the first shelter in North Carolina for victims of domestic violence.
- Felicite Fund Educational Grants are awarded through a competitive process. Application is open to students who have or propose to have
a learning relationship with Black Mountain Center. Initially, student applicants submit a letter of intent to the Fund Committee. Upon subsequent invitation of the committee, the student submits an application. The
committee makes the selection of awardees, sets the grant amounts and oversees the learning experiences.
